Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Expansion

To serve the growing West Pasco community, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital embarked on a major expansion that doubled the size of the existing campus.

At 56,000 square feet, the new Starkey Medical Tower increased the hospital's total number of beds by over 25 percent. The four-story tower also includes a new intensive care unit, cardiac unit, surgical unit, respiratory care services and community education facilities.

The 45,000 square foot Medical Arts Building serves as the center for outpatient care and offers an expanded sleep disorders center, outpatient lab, outpatient rehabilitation services and an enclosed, connected walkway to the main hospital. The building also contains offices for primary care physicians and specialists, which improves patients' access to care. A new helistop was added to serve those patients needing emergency medical transport.

The hospital became the first BayCare hospital to go live with Phase II of BEACON, a multi-year project that will create a BayCare-wide electronic medical record system.
