Prior to the completion of Pinellas County’s Central Production Studios in downtown Clearwater, the county’s public access and government television channels were lacking in the studio space and equipment needed to produce broadcast quality programming for the county’s million plus residents.
The new broadcast facility went through design and construction in less than a year. It provides the county’s Communications Department and PCC-TV access to two fully equipped television studios, master control room, soundproof control rooms, telecommunication rooms, a multi-purpose activity room, staff offices and lounge, public lobby, and a set for talk show segments.
New equipment has provided the ability to air live programming and enable shows to use in-studio shots with remote video. The studio is also designed to allow local stations to broadcast easily during hurricanes or other disasters, and is in close proximity to the county’s existing emergency operations center.
